A new version of the PBTools utility has just been released this month! The new build (#75) and its predecessors contain some great features for the PB developer, for example:
Grid Datawindow
- You can list all datawindows in your application and change header band colors with one click.
- You can compare two libraries or targets to check if they have same objects.
- Search for duplicate objects in your application.
- You can replace one text with new one in your project.
You can analyze your project and see all sqls. This application will calculate which database permissions are needed to run this application.

FastFuncs for PowerBuilder
** Hot News **
Fast Functions for PowerBuilder!
Jermery Lakeman has developed a set of functions designed to really optimize a number of common operations used by many PowerBuilder applications. These common functions (called FastFuncs) have been implemented using PowerBuilders internal system direct call interface to give the maximum possible performance!
The set of FastFuncs functions include (to highlight a few): bit-wise operations, string building, string replace all, string splitting, and a function to obtain the current stack trace.
Enjoy!

ISUG Benefit Update
** Hot News **
Appeon Benefit Updated to 6.5.1
The International Sybase User Group (ISUG) is pleased to inform their members that the Appeon for PowerBuilder benefit that is available to our Green & Gold members has been updated to the latest version 6.5.1!
Due the size of the download, there are now four files for each version (32 or 64 bit). These will need to be downloaded and unzipped together for a successful installation. ISUG users though should find that the download speed is much better from this mirrored location.
If you've downloaded Appeon previously, be sure to update to this new version. And if you tried earlier versions of Appeon but had problems, be sure to try it out again as the current product is orders of magnitude more stable and efficient than previous versions!
If you are not an ISUG member - why not join now ... click here!

Novalys and Appeon announce partnership
to distribute Appeon Mobile worldwide!
to distribute Appeon Mobile worldwide!
Novalys SAS announced on March 7, 2012 that it has entered into a strategic partnership with Appeon Corporation to distribute the first-ever mobility solution for the PowerBuilder community. Leveraging Appeon’s over a decade of experience in PowerBuilder web deployment and its core technology platform, Appeon is developing a mobile deployment solution for PowerBuilder – Appeon Mobile. Appeon Mobile will offer the simplest, fastest, and lowest-cost mobile development option for the PowerBuilder developer community. Under the agreement, Novalys will market, sell, and support Appeon Mobile worldwide.
In response to growing demand from the PowerBuilder community for mobility, Appeon Mobile will enable developers to rapidly build mobile applications exclusively with the PowerBuilder and using existing programming skills. This empowers developers to leverage their existing investments in PowerBuilder and the unbeatable productivity that PowerBuilder offers. Now mobile applications can be built in just weeks instead of months using one development tool for the iOS and Android based mobile devices.
"Appeon Mobile is really exciting for PowerBuilder; it allows developers to meet evolving business needs, as mobility becomes a necessity” said Christophe Dufourmantelle, CEO of Novalys. "Now, PowerBuilder developers can build data-driven enterprise apps without the productivity loss and headaches inherent to using standalone tools like Xcode."
From the PowerBuilder IDE, Appeon Mobile will automatically generate native mobile applications that deploy universally to all supported mobile devices, including iPhones, iPads, Android phones and tablets. DataWindows, nested reports, and many rich PowerBuilder functionalities previously unimaginable on mobile devices will be at users’ fingertips. These rich mobile applications are database-driven, powered by either a Java or .NET middleware that is compatible with leading commercial databases, including Sybase, Microsoft, Oracle, and IBM. Server-side integration is also supported with Java, .NET, Web Services and/or Sybase Unwired Platform (SUP).
"Novalys is the best source of PowerBuilder companion products, offering high-value-add solutions, such as VisualExpert, VisualGuard, and Customization Studio," said Armeen Mazda, CEO of Appeon. "Appeon is excited to have Novalys as our PowerBuilder mobility partner.".

Take PB to the Web, Mobile & More!
Do you want to go to the Web? Embrace Java or .NET?
Your client/server applications work well, and you have invested a lot in them but you need to keep up with the times and move your applications to the Web. So you may wonder “What should we do? Do we really need to junk our existing applications? Retrain our developers? Hire new guys who know nothing about our business?”If that’s the case, take a look at Appeon for PowerBuilder- Migrate your PB code to a web-based application, for a fraction of the cost of a full re-write in .Net or Java.
- Developments remain in PowerBuilder: no need to change or retrain the developers.
The PB code is automatically converted to .NET or Java during deployment. - The Web User Interface is identical to the Client/Server one:
Users keep the same interface they are already comfortable with. - Impressive performance for complex and demanding screens.
- Allows for rich client-side integration (Microsoft Office, Printers…), drag-and-drop, hot keys, file functions and registry functions that you wouldn't expect on the Web.
- Applications are accessible with a simple Internet browser.
- You can deploy to most Java or .NET application Servers
- Support for PowerBuilder 12.5, Windows 7…
- Deployment to multi-instance servers
- Calls to web services without any additional plug-ins
